"How to Unlock the Secret to Becoming 'That Girl' This Year"

Writer's picture: Jess CampbellJess Campbell

Let's engage in a transparent conversation today. I've observed celebrities and influencers labeled as "that girl" based on their appearance, earnings, and the messages they convey. I've come to realize that one's beliefs must align with a person for them to be considered "that girl." So, do you see yourself as "that girl"? Many women following me may not resemble Megan Thee Stallion or boast six-figure months yet, but they are hardworking, value-driven, room-shifting women, and to me, they are "That Girl!"

This week, I had a tough conversation with myself, reminding me of the type of woman I aspire to be. I haven't been showing up as that woman. I live by the philosophy that "you get to choose the type of woman you want to become." Feel free to replace "woman" with entrepreneur, mother, wife, leader, etc. The point is, you get to choose. God above endowed us with many special character traits that we often dilute, turning us into followers instead of leaders. Here's something I want you to practice with me. As women, we undergo many changes in mindset, desire, and outcome. It's time to take the lead and be "that girl" for yourself. Remember, Habakkuk 2 says to write the vision and make it plain. Let's envision again.

Early in the morning or whenever you have a moment during your day, partner with me to practice seeing yourself as the woman you want to be. To do this, find some quiet time for meditation. For those saying they don't get quiet time, take a moment in the shower, rise before everyone else, retire behind everyone else, use your lunch break, or before leaving that parking spot, take 7 minutes to breathe deeply and envision yourself as the woman you want to become for 7 minutes.

Next, write down what you saw on paper. Repeat this exercise twice more that day. Why? Because Proverbs 23:7 KJV says, "For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he." This means what you frequently think about is what you will become. I know it's easier said than done. Many of us have intense habits of thinking about what we lack, stress, anguish, and even people we wish wanted us but don't. We spend a lot of time thinking about our kids, the hurts people have inflicted, and the popular one—money negatives, like hating that dead-end job or believing no one will support our business (which isn't true, by the way; strangers love to support you). But in return, we become stagnant, procrastinative, ungrateful, unhopeful, and financially deficient. I'll never call you broke, but the deficit is real. It's time to reclaim your power, it's time to reclaim my power by doing the work from the inside out.

Don't believe in the Bible? Don't believe me that this will work? Listen to the interviews of all the women you admire. They'll tell you their formula for success begins with belief. I'm just saying, sis, do this with me for the next 21 days and let me know how you feel, how your productivity changes, and how your money mindset and accumulation improve! Want to be "That Girl"? Don't become Megan or Beyoncé; the world already has them. The world now needs you—become the woman you choose to be. Lean heavily into your identity and live abundantly for it! Okay, sis, I've rambled enough. I'll check back in soon. I'll definitely be the kind of woman I want to be every time I do. Talk soon!
